Hermès (spec) · Halloween Window, Madison Avenue
Spec window for Hermès Madison Avenue. Not commissioned.
The Halloween window is dressed by Mom from House of Chaos, a woman who believes nothing is messy if you art-direct it. Her children have been at work. She hasn’t cleaned up. She has styled it.
From the sidewalk, the window reads as pure Hermès: composed, burgundy, quietly theatrical. Up close, two or three details give the game away. The children’s mess has been disguised as design objects, and you only notice it once you’ve stepped closer. That’s the whole mechanism of a good window: one look to stop you, a second to pull you in.
Every fix is fast, temporary and reusable, because Mom does not have time for resin. And where a price tag would go, each object carries a tag giving its reason instead.
The palette is autumn burgundy with light blue, set apart from the sunny Riviera world of House of Chaos, and the hero pieces sit at eye level, in the zone where a passerby’s eye lands first.
